With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last.

The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him.

See that you go on growing in the Lord,

and become strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught.

Let your lives overflow with joy and thanksgiving for all he has done.

Colossians 2:7

Thank you Lord for your many blessings and miracles. Grow us strong roots to keep us grounded in your love.  Let our lives overflow with peace and thanksgiving offerings.  Wrap your arms around our brothers and sisters who struggle with joy and thankfulness. Give strength to all surrounded by evil.  Make your presence known, help us sow seeds of peace and find safety in your truth. Your love is abundant. Amen

A Prayer of Confidence

autumn-path-paintCrop-kpsPsalm 27: 1, 13-14 (NIV)

The Lord is my light and my salvation —
whom shall I fear?

I remain confident of this:

I will see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.

Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.

Thank you Lord for guiding my path.  Thank you for your GRACE!  As the sun sets and the moon rises I remember you are with me.  I am an alien in this world.  I am a stranger.  I am confident I will see your face.  You will hold me and wipe my tears.  You will explain your mystery and I will drench in your love.  All will know I am your child – beloved and significant.  All  will be forgiven and all will be healed in the land of living. Thank you FATHER! Thank you! Amen.

Psalm 27(NIV)

The Lord is my light and my salvation —
whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life —
of whom shall I be afraid?

When the wicked advance against me
to devour me,
it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall.

Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
even then I will be confident.

One thing I ask from the Lord,
this only do I seek:

that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.

For in the day of trouble
he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
and set me high upon a rock.

Then my head will be exalted
above the enemies who surround me;

at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with SHOUTS of JOY;
I will SING and make music to the Lord.

Hear my voice when I call, Lord;
be merciful to me and answer me.

My heart says of you, “Seek his face!”
Your face, Lord, I will seek.

Do not hide your face from me,
do not turn your servant away in anger;
you have been my helper.

Do not reject me or forsake me,
God my Savior.

Though my father and mother forsake me,
the Lord will receive me.

Teach me your way, Lord;
lead me in a straight path
because of my oppressors.

Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes,
false witnesses rise up against me,
spouting malicious accusations.

I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.

Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.

Deuteronomy 15:9-11
Be careful not to harbor wicked thought: “The year for canceling debts, is near,” so that you do not show ill will toward the needy among you and give them nothing.They may then appeal to the Lord against you, and you will be found guilty of sin.

Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.

There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be open-handed toward your fellow who are poor and needy in your land.

Lord give me a generous heart. Open my eyes to everyone in need so that I may invite them to the table and we may celebrate together the harvest you provide. Cleanse my heart of grudges. Help me to love my brothers and sisters as you love me and I love you. Bless us and let the party begin! Amen!
